DIY Beauty Ideas To Pamper Your Skin This Winter

Winter is still coming, but your skin will be glowing!

For thousands of years, oils have been, with good reason, the preferred method of beauty care in many cultures. Olive oil, one of the most common oils used in antiquity, is still the number one choice for ensuring you have well-hydrated, healthy skin. Not only does it prevent your face and body skin from losing water due to dryness, but it also serves as a natural antibacterial, so it will prevent blemishes.

After your daily face-cleansing routine, apply a few drops of olive oil on your face and massage it all the way through, until it is completely absorbed. Leave it all night long. For most skin types, this is a routine that can be followed every day.

SUGAR, LEMON JUICE AND HONEY

This is probably one of the most common remedies for dry skin, and one of the easiest to make. Just combine equal parts of sugar, honey, and enough lemon juice to make it soft and spreadable. Use it to scrub your hands, feet, and any other extra-dry parts of your skin, and rinse with warm water. Pat dry and apply your favourite moisturiser. Repeat once every two days for very dry skin, and once a week for normal to dry skin.

 COFFEE AND COCONUT OIL

This is one of my favourite DIY tricks for getting super-smooth skin fast. Combine equal parts used coffee grounds and coconut oil, and heat it up to the point where the oil dissolves, so you can mix it easily with the grounds.

Scrub your whole body with this mixture. Don’t worry if it feels like you are getting “dirty:” once the oil has helped the caffeine penetrate your skin, the grounds will fall off easily with warm water. After doing this, you will not need to apply moisturiser. Don’t do this scrub more than once a week; I promise you won’t need it.

 AVOCADO AND MILK

Eating yummy avocados is good for your skin, but avocado is also good as a mask, and paired with a bit of milk, it’s the perfect combination for all your dry skin needs. Simply scoop the flesh of half a ripe avocado and mash it with two tablespoons of milk. Slather it on your face and let your skin drink up this rich cream for 15 minutes, rinse it up with cold water and pat it dry with a soft towel.

 KIWI

Besides being delicious, kiwis are full of vitamins C, E, A, and K, as well as a fair amount of antioxidants. Pair this with some good fats from olive oil and the rejuvenating properties of the lactic acid found in yogurt, and you have the perfect face mask to give your winter the fruity feel of the tropics.

Mash the flesh of one kiwi with one tablespoon of yogurt and one tablespoon of olive oil. Apply a thick layer of this mixture on your pre-soaked skin and let it rest for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water, pat dry, and apply your favourite body butter.
